Adjusting USB Voltage

Boosting your USB voltage is an excellent way to improve the power of your computer’s cooling fan. Many laptop users are unsatisfied with how their cooling fans work and often find solutions to solve this problem. A possible solution would be to increase voltage by attaching USB cables. However, because of the set maximum voltage in the USB ports, the power provided to the cooling fan is also limited. But there is a way to alter this, although it might result in damaging not just your USB port but your whole computer as well.

In any case, the first step in increasing you USB voltage is by placing a resistor in your USB cable. Instead, it is more helpful to install variable resistor specifically on the power cable-HDD red LED. This is to ensure that USB voltage that the input and your computer’s voltage are the same. This cable is the one that runs from the power source, which is the battery going to the hard drive. Finding this cable is actually easy, however, it involves opening up your laptop, which necessarily voids your warranty and takes away your privilege to have your laptop repaired at the appropriate service centers.

If you are really interested in increasing your laptop cooling fan speed by increasing USB voltage, you  may achieve the same goal without compromising and damaging the peripherals of your laptops. This modification in your laptops will provide the necessary voltage to increase your cooling fan however, at the cost of your laptop service warranty.
